‘What is Art? A difficult question to answer, do you not agree? Well after extensive research (and typing it into Wikipedia), I have discovered that it is the product or process of deliberately arranging symbolic elements in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions and intellect. Or alternatively it’s grabbing a pen and doodling the hell out of a piece of paper! That’s what Ian Stevenson has done to fantastic affect in his latest book “Now That’s What I Call Art”. Published by POW, Stevenson’s newest offering provides us with 48 pages of fresh, outlandish satire, with a firm middle finger pointed towards pretentiousness. It’s a fantastic example of how art is portrayed by those supposedly in the loop, demonstrating it’s easier to believe your own hype, than to work hard and achieve the plaudits. You don’t have to be a chauffeur-driven aristocrat to enjoy the book though, as it’s available for just £5! I have to say, NTWICA has inspired me massively. Just yesterday I decided to kidnap Justin Bieber, shave every hair on his head, slather it with honey and leave him to play with my boisterous pet Grizzly Bear, Tyrone. Personally, I don’t consider the outcome art, but it was mightily satisfying! Baaaaby, baaaaby, baby oooh! Now That’s What I Call Art is out now’. - Ahoodie
